Join Buckeye Union School District (El Dorado Hills): We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and organized Elementary School Secretary to support our Oak Meadow Elementary School. This position is essential in ensuring the daily operations of our office run smoothly and efficiently, providing excellent service to students, families, staff, and the public. Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday - 239 paid days per year.
Role Overview: School Secretary Administrative Support in Elementary Education
The Elementary School Secretary serves as the first point of contact for visitors, students, and team members. This position provides comprehensive administrative support, manages communications, maintains school records, and assists with a wide range of tasks to create a welcoming and organized school office environment.
Primary Responsibilities in School Office Administration
- Greet and assist students, staff, families, and visitors in a welcoming, professional manner
- Answer phones, direct calls, and respond to general inquiries
- Maintain accurate school records, including attendance and student files
- Coordinate communications between the school, families, and district office
- Assist with enrollment and registration processes
- Support event planning, scheduling, and coordination of school activities
- Prepare and distribute school communications, newsletters, and notices
- Order and manage office and classroom supplies, track inventory
- Provide general clerical support such as data entry, copying, scanning, and filing
- Assist with first aid and health office needs, following school protocols
- Uphold confidentiality of sensitive student and staff information
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school team members as needed
Qualifications & Requirements for Elementary School Secretary
- High School diploma or equivalent required; additional administrative training is a plus
- Previous office, clerical, or administrative experience, preferably in a school or educational setting
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office technology
- Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
- Friendly, patient, and resourceful demeanor
